It’s Feng Shui time again!  Last week we have seen what Feng Shui measures could be done to bring better luck in study and career.  This week we move on to the next goal, which is one many people want to achieve.

In Chinese Feng Shui, Tao Hua (桃花 in Chinese) Star is what controls relationship.  Here relationship means love, but it does not only relate to love, it also means the relationship between people, say, the relationship between friends, colleagues, family members, etc.  It could even mean how good you get along with a stranger.

Relationship is an important sector of Feng Shui which is getting more and more attention.  It is quite common that clients come to a Feng Shui master and ask for help to find a boyfriend or get married.  It is also usual for Feng Shui masters be summoned to help to improve relationship in the workplace.  So once you mastered the skills I deliver in this lesson, you have actually opened the door to many possibilities in Feng Shui practice.

It should be noted that Feng Shui does not and cannot guarantee that you find your white knight or princess, it simply means you have higher chance to do so.  apart from Feng Shui, your own fate and your personality also affects the end result.

The Flying Star 1 is the major Flying Star that governs relationship.  When asked to do Flying Star Feng Shui for relationship, most masters would focus on how to make this Flying Star work.  The following combinations are those that affect relationship.

1 – 7

The 1 – 7 combination is good for Tao Hua.  It could bring good luck in meeting new people ad developing new relationships.  So if the entrance door or bed is located in a direction with this combination of Flying Star, chances are the occupiers may have good Tao Hua.

1 – 9

This combination is a little bit different.  It is not for single people to find a boyfriend/girlfriend.  It is for those who already have a relationship to increase the chance of getting married and having baby.  The reason is that Flying Star 9 is good for happy events.  It brings happiness to the family.

4 – 7

This is not a good combination for relationship.  I put it here because it is bad, so you must remember not to trigger this combination.  While it may promote the chance of meeting new friends, the Tao Hua it brings could be bad, meaning that it is not a good relationship.  So, avoid putting the bed in this direction.

7 – 1

The Stars of this combination is the same as the 1 – 7 one, so you could expect this combination has similar good effects on relationships.

7 – 4

Similarly, since this combination contains the same Stars as in the 4 – 7 combination, it is normal to expect the same bad luck in relationship brought to the occupiers.

9 – 1

Same as 1 – 9 combination, this one is good for bringing good events such as marriage to the family, which is indirectly related to developing relationship.

Even if you are yet to be familiar with drawing up the Flying Star Map, don’t worry.  You could still make use of the Tao Hua star.  Just find out the yearly Flying Star Map and look for the Flying Star 1.  It is the Tao Hua direction.  Don’t know where is the yearly Flying Star Map?  Easy, follow my free Feng Shui book!

The Non-Flying Star Guide to Tao Hua

We have seen how to use different Flying Star combinations to bring good luck in love and relationship.  I know not everyone could understand fully the Flying Star concept or know how to calculate the Flying Star Map for an individual person.  So, same as last lesson, I’ll tell you how to easily find out the personal Tao Hua direction for a given person easily, without having to know the exact birthday and time.

Tao Hua Directions

Firstly, you need to know the year of birth of the person, which should be pretty easy.  Then, find out the Chinese zodiac sign of him/her.  Below is a list of zodiac signs in relation to year of birth.

Rat: 1924, 1926, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008

Ox: 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009

Tiger: 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010

Rabbit: 1927, 1939, 1951 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011

Dragon: 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012

Snake: 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013

Horse: 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014

Sheep: 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015

Monkey: 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016

Rooster: 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017

Dog: 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018

Pig: 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019

Always note that those who were born before the Spring of a year (usually 4 Feb) should be treated as born in the previous year.  I believe most of you should remember this, as this is one of the main points I kept emphasized in some previous lessons.

Next, you need to check the following list to find out the Tao Hua direction of this person.

Rat: Yao (酉)

Ox: Wu (午)

Tiger: Mao (卯)

Rabbit: Zi (子)

Dragon: Yao (酉)

Snake: Wu (午)

Horse: Mao (卯)

Sheep: Zi (子)

Monkey: Yao (酉)

Rooster: Wu (午)

Dog: Mao (卯)

Pig: Zi (子)

The above directions are not in simple North, East, West, South, etc. presentation, because technically speaking they have more specific ranges:

Zi (子): 337.6 deg to 22.5 deg

Wu (午): 157.6 deg to 202.5 deg

Mao (卯): 67.6 deg to 112.5 deg

Yao (酉): 247.6 deg to 292.5 deg

Take out your compass and find them out!

How to use the Tao Hua Directions

The simplest use of the Tao Hua Directions is to place the bed in this direction.  If you sleep here every night, you would be exposed to the positive energy every night and be benefitted from it.

It may not be so easy to put the bed in this direction, I know.  This direction could be where the kitchen or living room is located, where you cannot practically place your bed there.  In these cases, you would need to place other things here to capture the positive energy.

A very common tool that Feng Shui masters frequently use to enhance people’s luck in love and relationship is vase.  Let’s see what are the rules of using a vase for Tao Hua.

Firstly, no matter when the vase must not be empty.  There must be water.  You must put water in the vase if you want good relationship.  Even if you found the Tao Hua direction, if the vase in this direction is empty, the whole setting is wrong.

Secondly, you need to find a vase in a correct shape.  Common vases are circular, but for Feng Shui purpose you need a shape matching the direction.  Below is a list of the shapes and directions:

West & Northwest: Circular vase, which means a vase with a circular opening on top, a neck and a round bell shaped bottom.  This is the commonest type of vase you can find in the market

East & Southeast: Cylindrical vase, which is a vase with a circular opening on top, but the whole vase should have the same diameter from the top to the bottom

South: Triangular vase, the whole vase from top to bottom should be triangular, so the whole thing is in a triangular column shape

Southwest & Northeast: Rectangular vase, the opening should be wide and rectangular in shape, the body should also be rectangular

North: Curved shape vase, the body should looks like twisted or bended, there should rarely be a straight line

Last but not least, the color of the vase.  Not only does a direction requires a particular shape of vase, the vase’s color also matter.  Below is a list of color you should choose for the vase:

West & Northwest: Golden or white

East & Southeast: Green

South: Red, orange or purple

Southwest & Northeast: Yellow or brown

North: Black or blue

So, if your Tao Hua direction is South, you should put a red / orange / purple vase in this direction and the vase should be triangular in shape.

Lastly, don’t forget the flower.  You could place a vase with water here, although it won’t bring much effect.  For the best result, you should also put some flowers here.  The flowers should be colorful and must be fresh.

Summary

We have finished learning the techniques to improve the luck in love and relationship.  These are practical skills that you should remember and master.  See you next week, when we would learn some new skills!
